Hotel deLuxe Review
If you want a taste of Hollywood's Golden Era, this one's for you: the original chandeliers and guilded ceilings of the historic building's golden lobby evoke the necessary glitz and glamour; 400-plus black-and-white photographs on the hallway walls are arranged by movie themes; and the for-loan collection of DVDs includes 50 classics (Casablanca, anyone?). In addition, the deLuxe offers tasteful, earth-toned rooms with comfty beds—and lots of fun choices. A music menu offers a pre-programed iPod; the spiritual menu choices includie the King James Bible, Torah, Koran, Tao Te Ching, and "What Is Scientology;" and the pillow menu has a comprehensive selection. The bartenders in the dim, cozy 1950s-style Driftwood Room lounge serve up mean craft cocktails.
