Mid-Willamette Valley
While most of the wineries are concentrated in Washington and Yamhill counties, there are several finds in the Mid-Willamette Valley that are worth extending a wine enthusiast's journey. There are also flower, hops, berries, and seed gardens scattered throughout Salem, Albany, and Corvallis. The huge number of company stores concentrated on Interstate 5 will have you thinking about some new Nikes, and Oregon State University will have you wearing orange and black long after Halloween is over. Be aware that many communities in this region are little more than wide spots in the road. In these tiny towns you might find only a gas station, a grocery store, a church or two, and a school. Watch out for any School Crossing signs: Oregon strictly enforces its speed-limit laws.
