Ten Thousand Villages
Ten Thousand Villages Review
Ten Thousand Villages lets you shop with a social conscience. Run by the Mennonite Central Committee, it's designed to benefit artisans in low-income countries. The vast store stocks more than 3,000 items—including jewelry, needlework, baskets, toys, rugs, and clothing—from more than 30 countries. The Oriental Rug Room has hand-knotted Persians, Bokharas, Kilims, Dhurries, and Afghani tribal rugs crafted by fairly paid adult labor. Sales in January and July offer excellent bargains. Sample cuisine from around the world in the Cafe Ten Thousand Villages.
