When to Go
Lancaster County can be hectic, especially on summer weekends and in autumn when the fall foliage attracts crowds. Farmers' markets and family-style restaurants overflow with people. The trick is to visit the top sights and then get off the beaten path. If possible, plan your trip for early spring, September, or Christmas season, when the area is less crowded. You should note that although many restaurants, shops, and farmers' markets close Sunday, commercial attractions remain open.
