Theatre By The Sea

Theatre By The Sea Review

Enjoy summer stock as it was meant to be performed at this old 500-seat barn-theater a quarter-mile from the ocean. Broadway musicals get the royal treatment here with directors, choreographers, and many actors and singers coming from New York City. The season extends from late May through early September. On the National Register of Historic Places, a summer theater has been on the site since 1933, although hurricanes, World War II, and economic hardships kept some summers dark. The nonprofit Ocean State Theater Company now produces classics and newer musicals, as well as a play each year; tickets run $35-$54. The Bistro By The Sea restaurant features casual contemporary cuisine.
