Gaulart and Maliclet Café

Gaulart and Maliclet Café Review

Sharing high, family-style tables for breakfast, lunch, or dinner leads to camaraderie at this bustling bistro also known as Fast 'n' French. Thursday brings a crowd for fondue. The cheese version can be disappointing, but the seafood, which you cook in broth yourself, is better. Opt to get your cheese fix with the wonderful Bucheron cheese salad. Nightly specials, such as bouillabaisse or couscous, are reasonably priced and come with a petite glass of wine. And a subtly sweet chocolate-mousse cake is the best way to end your meal. The service is often imperfect but fun, and prices have stayed reasonable (while others downtown have soared). Although not as popular as it once was, the restaurant still has a loyal following.
