Blackberry Farm Review
Sprawled over more than 4,200 acres with fantastic views of the Smoky Mountains, this rustic spread, complete with red barn, hides a luxurious country retreat with refined service. Rooms in the main house, a striking edifice of Tennessee fieldstone, have divine featherbeds and are turned out with elegant furnishings. If you decide to splurge and stay in one of the outlying cottages or guest houses, you'll get additional touches like vaulted ceilings and verandas. Rocking chairs are waiting for you to ease back with a favorite beverage, while fantastic meals in the dining room feature ingredients from the farm's gardens and animals, with dishes that give a nod to both Southern classics and innovative new preparations. A wealth of outdoor activities and the on-site spa provides options for recreation as well as relaxation. Rates start at $745 double (plus tax and service), including all meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks, and go much, much higher. Two- to four-night minimum stays required.

Pastoral Luxury
Doing a country escape right means finding a place both in tune with the surrounding landscape and attentive to guests' need to relax. Nestled in a scenic valley with bucolic details out of a 19th-century landscape painting, Blackberry Farm's main house and outlying cottages have elegant interiors with refined, tasteful décor and featherbeds that take you in with a comforting embrace. Cares melt away as you sit in a rocking chair watching the sun set over the Smoky Mountains. Sit back and enjoy a dinner of regional specialties, prepared by a master chef with produce from the farm's own garden. Cheeses come from sheep that graze in a nearby meadow, and farm fresh eggs are whipped into delectable breakfasts.
