Em's Review

Fresh, flavorful, creative, and artsy—chef Emily Gassmann's small café combines it all in a renovated brick storefront in the Marmalade District, west of the Capitol. The café has an urban feel with its modern art and polished wood floors. Sit at the counter, at wooden tables, or on the patio and enjoy the varied menu of salads, soups, savory crepes, meats, and vegetarian entrées. Brunch is served on Sunday.

    The Rude Crash the Bash

My husband found Em's online and took me for my birthday dinner. The menu had a unique twist on some of my favorite dishes. The people that frequent the restaurant all seem to be of a similar sort. And although my husband placed a reservation and called ahead of time to the restaurant to ask if they would add a flower or something special to my dessert they rudely declined and seated us in a very public and cramped spot. The service was a wreck and treated us as if we were a burden. A chef chatted with a couple seated next to us - who seem to have been long time patrons. Of Unfourtunately, the treatment of our party has prevented us from reconsidering their restaurant again. Regardless of how fresh and unique their menu was. Cucina Toscana definitely offered a staff that cared enough about their jobs to treat us with some kindness.
