Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park Review

This sweeping expanse of pink sand comes from eroding sandstone. Funneled through a notch in the rock, wind picks up speed and carries grains of sand into the area. Once the wind slows down, the sand is deposited, creating this giant playground for dune buggies, ATVs—called off-highway vehicles in Utah—and dirt motorcycles. A small area is fenced off for walking, but the sound of wheeled toys is always with you. Children love to play in the sand, but check the surface temperature; it can become very hot.
