Pane e Saluto

Pane e Saluto Review

Don't let the size fool you—meals at this little upstairs restaurant are exciting and memorable, thanks to young couple Deirdre Heekin and Caleb Barker. Reserve well in advance as the small space fills up fast. Hip contemporary decor, an intimately small space, and Heekin's discreetly passionate front-of-house direction all come together to complement the Barker's slow-food-inspired passion for flavorful, local and farm-raised dishes. Try ragu d'agnello e maiale (spaghetti with an abruzzese ragu from roasted pork and lamb) followed by cotechino e lenticche (a garlic sausage with lentils). You might expect such an osteria in Berkeley or Brooklyn, but this tiny spot pumps life into the blood of old Woodstock. Ask about the culinary tours the team leads each year in Italy.
