Vermont State House

Vermont State House Review

The regal, gold-domed capitol surrounded by forest is emblematic of this proud rural state. With the gleaming dome and columns of Barre granite 6 feet in diameter, the statehouse is home to the oldest legislative chambers in their original condition in the United States. Half-hour tours take you through the governor's office and the house and senate chambers. The goddess of agriculture tops the gilded dome. Interior paintings and exhibits make much of Vermont's sterling Civil War record.
