Four Chimneys Inn Review

This is the quintessential Old Bennington mansion and one of the best inns in Vermont. The three-story 1915 neo-Georgian looks out over a substantial lawn and a wonderful old stone wall. On the second floor, rooms 1, 3, and 11 have great bay windows and fireplaces. One has a chandelier hung over a hot tub, reproduction antique washstands, and a flat-screen TV cleverly concealed by a painting. All rooms are light and bright. Owner and innkeeper Lynn Green's careful attention keeps the property in high style. Two cottages in back (a two-story brick former icehouse and a former carriage house) overlook a pond.
