Eastern Washington: Places to Explore

Ritzville

In the heart of the wheat country at the junction of two major highways, I-90 and U.S. 395, the Adams county seat has long occupied a position of importance in eastern Washington, despite its small size. Its old downtown has several interesting buildings, most notably the eclectic house built by Dr. Frank R. Burroughs in 1889, now the county historical society's museum. The town made headline news in 1980 when it received more than its share of Mt. St. Helen's ash.
