Agua Verde

Fodor's Review:

You can rent kayaks at Agua Verde, which is on a street bordering Portage Bay and surrounded by boat repair shops. The food here has been described as Baja California Mexican, which may refer as much to the bright, beachy colors as it does to the cuisine. Tacos aren't dripping with grease, cheese, or sour cream, and choices include fish and chili-chicken. With a nod to the U-District diet, there are lots of vegetarian items. Regulars swear by the black-bean cakes and mangodillas, quesadillas with mango and poblano chilies.
