$$-$$$, Belltown
Fodor's Review:
Dark, swank, and sophisticated, this luxury retro-style 1950s property tops Belltown's beloved El Gaucho steak house. Eighteen ultrachic suites have pale yellow walls, chocolate-color wood, workstations cleverly concealed in closets, and buttery leather furniture. They're filled with such goodies as feather beds, Egyptian linens, Reidel stemware, fresh flowers from Pike Place Market, and large-screen plasma TVs. The sleek bathrooms have rain-style showers and high-end bath and body products. Rooms face either Puget Sound, the city, or the hotel's atrium; atrium rooms are quieter than those that face the street. Room 9 has the best view of the sound. Additional perks include room service from El Gaucho and in-room massages and spa services from the Hyatt's spa team. The one drawback: the flight of stairs you'll have to climb to get to the inn -- there's no passenger elevator and because it's in a historic property, there won't be one anytime soon.
