Seattle Restaurants

Dinette Review

Dinette's main claim to fame is fancy toast, which is served with anything from radishes and egg salad to smoked salmon with herbed mascarpone or rapini pesto with Mama Lil's peppers and fresh mozarella. Beyond the salads and snacks, larger dishes include clams with chorizo, gnocchi, and daily seafood specials. A focus on seasonal ingredients means that the menu offerings change regularly but they're almost always mouthwatering. The space, on the western edge of Capitol Hill, just up from South Lake Union, couldn't be cozier: it's dimly lighted but not dark and brooding. Hip couples fill the place on weekends, especially for happy hour at the handsome Euro-style zinc bar. In summer there's a lunchtime to-go sandwich bar.
