Castle Rock Review
Castle Rock's location on I-5 at the Spirit Lake Highway makes it a major point of entry for the Mt. St. Helens National Monument. The site takes its name from a tree-covered knob that once stood on the bank of the Cowlitz River and served as a landmark for Hudson's Bay Company trappers and traders. The landscape changed dramatically when the 1980 eruption filled the Toutle and Cowlitz Rivers with volcanic mush.
