The whimsically named "Little Painted Mouths" (a tribute to Manuel Puig's novel of the same name) is a self-proclaimed "pop hotel," and the German owner, Heike Thelen, goes out of her way to keep things weird and wild. World-famous "nude" photographer, Spencer Tunick, staged a shoot here in 2002 and ended up spending the night. Local artists, inspired by an array of provocative themes, redecorate the six rooms every two months. The restaurant serves dishes not found often in the city, including goulash. DJs spin tunes until dawn. The hotel is in the Constitucion neighborhood, west of San Telmo, across Avenida 9 de Julio. Use caution at night; the surrounding area is dodgy.
