Hub Porteño Review

Opened in September 2012, in the posh Recoleta neighborhood, Hub Porteño's luxury is about more than its 11 elegant rooms—though they are replete with touches like 600-thread-count sheets, crystal chandeliers, Jacuzzi tubs, and artisan-crafted furnishings. For owner Gonzalo Robredo, the hotel is all about the guest's full experience, both inside and outside the hotel. Drawing upon his background working for high-end fishing lodges, where the staff planned every detail of a guest's stay, Robredo has evolved that concept for his cosmopolitan hometown of Buenos Aires. Included in Hub's rates are customized, upscale travel itineraries that offer true immersion experiences by connecting visitors to city insiders pulled from Robredo's Rolodex, including university professors, art designers, and polo stars. Guests' personal interests inform the tailored schedules, each of which is thematic and multifaceted; included activities may range from interactive discussions in the hotel's den to outings in the city and iPads loaded with supplementary reading material. The hotel also offers prêt-a-porter experiences centered on subjects like gastronomy, tango, gaucho lifestyle, and modern art. Guests may also book a room-only stay (at a substantially lower rate), and while they'll miss out on the experiences, they will enjoy all the hotel amenities—including breakfast in the on-site restaurant Tarquino, helmed by a local chef who worked alongside Ferrán Adriá at Spain's famed El Bulli.
