Plaza Independencia

Plaza Independencia Review

In Mendoza's main square you can sit on a bench in the shade of a sycamore tree and watch children playing in the fountains, browse the stands at a weekend art fair, or take a stroll after lunch to the adjacent historic Plaza Hotel (now a Hyatt) on your way to the shops and outdoor cafés on the pedestrian-only Calle Sarmiento, which bisects the square.

Museo Arte Moderno. Right in Plaza Independencia, this museum exhibits over 450 paintings, ceramics, sculptures, and drawings by Mendocino artists from 1930 to the present. Plaza Independencia. 261/425-7279. 8 pesos, Wed. free. Mon.-Sat. 9-1 and 4-9, Sun. 5-9.
