This charming restaurant, nestled between a golf green and tennis courts, is the center of culinary activity in this luxury golf, tennis, and wine resort about 20 minutes' drive from the center of town. Surrounded by ancient olive groves and vineyards, you can sit outside on the brick patio where pine-log tables are surrounded by comfy couches with puffy white cushions. Here you listen to birds singing while you sip Algodon wine and dine on high-quality (but never pretentious) regional dishes such as goat from nearby Malargüe (spring and summer) with quinoa. Many of the products used, such as the olives, fruits, and walnuts, are harvested right on the property, and bread is baked daily in a clay oven. Reservations are a good idea.

    If you’re in Mendoza, go there!

    How happy I was to see this restaurant listed here! I am an American who was on business in San Rafael, Mendoza for several days this past April. We heard about Algodon Wine Estates (where the restaurant is located) through our clients in the area, and were urged to go there for dinner. I’m very glad we did; the cuisine is “traditional Argentine” and it was absolutely one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. Mine was an extraordinary melt-in-your-mouth duck dish that was unlike anything I’d ever had. Apparently everything on the menu is grown on or near the estate, which also impressed me, and the wine, which was excellent, was from the estate’s own vineyards and winery. The property itself was gorgeous and has a golf course that literally plays through the vineyards (It’s an immense estate from what I could see, and quite stunning). I’m a novice golfer myself, but unfortunately I didn’t make time to play a round. Mendoza is an incredible place, the next time I’m there I hope it’s for vacation rather than business…as I wouldn’t have minded staying a week or so longer. Incidentally, the mountain range on the horizon, which virtually towers over the entire city, is called the Sierra Pintadas, which before my trip- I’m embarrassed to say- I’d never heard of. It lies at the base of the Andes Mountain Range, and is positively breathtaking. If you’re in Mendoza, go there!

    A Wonderful Experience

    This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip to San Rafael. It is on a wine and golf estate so the atmosphere is just amazing; you are surrounded by vineyards and olive groves and the San Andes mountains are in the horizon. I opted to dine outside each time I went. The menu(classic Argentine) is true to the region and the ingredients are grown and produced locally, mostly on the estate itself. Due to this, the meals have an extraordinary quality of freshness and vitality. I should also mention that the wines are equally as excellent and produced on the estate. I am planning on visiting San Rafael again in the summer, and dining at Algodon restaurant is one of the first things on my agenda!
