Festivals and Seasonal Events

As elsewhere in southern Chile, most of Chiloé's festivals take place in summer, when there's the best chance of good weather. Fiestas Costumbritsas, which celebrate Chilote customs and folklore, take place over several weekends between December and February in Ancud, Castro, and other towns. Ancud hosts a small open-air film festival the first few days in February.
