Getting Here and Around

Caleta Gonzalo, headquarters of Pumalín Park, is about 60 km (37 mi) north of Chaitén. The road from Chaitén to Caleta Gonzalo is well maintained but not paved. One can also reach Caleta Gonzalo by ferry. To venture to the northernmost areas of the park, such as Cahuelmo hot springs, you will need to rent a boat in Hornopirén, a small town about 110 km (68 mi) southeast of Puerto Montt.
