Rio Sagrado Review
Sprawled across 2.5 hectares of greenery, and situated alongside the Urubamba River, this retreat offers tranquility and comfort. Each room comes with riverfront views, outshined only by the cheery alpaca blankets and embroidered throw pillows—both of which, along with shampoos and soaps, are locally made. The only thing better than the views and the rooms is the sanguine staff and first-rate service. Even if you came to see the valley, don't be afraid to spend a couple days idling about the property; horseback riding and adventure tours can be arranged at reception, and cooking classes are available on request. The Friday night barbeque on the terrace is another must-do. Rio Sagrado's charm isn't surprising: the hotel is an offshoot of Orient Express (owners of Cusco's Monasterio) and PeruRail. Plans for future enhancement include a heated pool.
