Castillo de San Carlos de Borromeo
Castillo de San Carlos de Borromeo Review
Pampatar was founded nearly 400 years ago. Its strategic importance is clear when you visit the Castillo de San Carlos de Borromeo on the waterfront in the center of town. Constructed entirely of coral, the fort was rebuilt by the Spanish in 1622 after the original was destroyed by the Dutch. The port town is now known more for its myriad yachts and the fortnightly ferries that set sail for nearby Trinidad.
