We arrive in Cape Town (flying from Amsterdam) late in the evening, as you did. I think we arrive at 10:30 pm.
I was interested to read that your B and B sent a car for you. From your travel research, can you say whether this is a common practice?
I assumed we would have to spend the night at an airport hotel.
(If we had to stay at the airport. we might rent a car from the airport the next day and do a driving loop, returning to visit Cape Town later in the trip. But I'd prefer to see the city first, then launch out into the countryside.)

Sorry for the late reply, as I was travelling.
Cannot say if this is a regular practice, but I am sure most B&B's around the world would happily offer this service, if you requested it. Many hotels would not offer the same, but B&B's would generally oblige.
In this case, the offer came from the B&B itself, when we told them about our arrival time. They sent a known car, whose driver not only brought us there, but also opened the rooms and checked us in. So the host did not have to be disturbed at midnight.
Much better to reach your final destination in the night itself, rather than spend one night at an airport hotel, and again change hotels the next morning.

What a good read, indiancouple [as I knew from your other trip reports it was bound to be].
It brought back great memories of our trip to SA a few years ago and has given me a few ideas for what I hope may be our next one in about 18 months time, so thank you.
