Beautiful place to propose in Israel
I'll be in Israel for the first time next week with my girlfriend. I would like to propose to her while we are there. Can anyone help me with some ideas for a memorable experience?
We'll be there for a week, and I am just starting to plan the itinerary - which would revolve around the marriage proposal. Thanks!

Wow, Israel is such a beautiful place that you've got many candidate locations where you can pop the question. You could spend 2 nights in Tel Aviv and the rest of the time in Jerusalem, with some short day trips from there.
While in Tel Aviv you could visit the old city of Jaffa for some shopping and relaxed strolling. At the top of a hill there's a restaurant called Aladin that has great views of Tel Aviv and the sea. You could arrange to have something to eat around sunset and propose then. See http://www.telavivisraelrestaurants.com/HomeEn.htm and the photo gallery link.
The Old City of Jerusalem is one of the world's best destinations. The sense of history and religion is palpable. The shopping stalls are fun (bargain, bargain, bargain). There are cafes all around and maybe you'll get the urge to propose in one of them.
An easy trip from Jerusalem takes you to Masada, the site of an ancient Israelite fortress. The vistas from up there are spectacular and can be romantic. See the following link for what I hope you will find a humorous take on driving to Masada: http://globitude.com/travelogue/98
I'll leave detailed planning to you---that's part of the fun of travel. Lots of luck, Steve
