Dahab to Jerusalem--Day Trip?
We may be taking a one day trip up to Jerusalem from Dahab. The tour operator picks us up from the hotel at around 2 am, we drive to Israel, see the red sea, tour of Jerusalem, see the sites, and drive back. It seems like a lot--but we would really like to see the holy sites while we are in the middle east. Has anyone done this? Would you recommend it?

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I definitely do not recommend you do this. Dahab to Jerusalem is nearly 300 miles one way through the Negev desert, which is dusty, rocky, and empty. Jerusalem is much, much more than just a one day visit (which this will not be because you will be driving most of the time) and I just think if you attempt this you will not only be completely exhausted, but disappointed too. Take three days at the very least for this, or go there on another trip. Also, crossing the borders could take longer than you expect it to.

Tinydancer is correct: You will spend at least 15 hours in the bus to drive around Jerusalem for a few hours without actually stopping and entering many sites. Most tourists spend AT LEAST 3 or 4 days in Jerusalem and at least one full day at the Dead Sea (Massada, Qumran and Ein Gedi). This tour is the equivalent of someone in Glasgow going on a one-day bus tour of London or someone in Toronto going on a one-day bus tour to New-York. What is the cost of this tour ? I strongly recommend doing Jerusalem (and the rest of Israel) ona separate trip.
