Did I see "our" Predator Biologist on Monster Quest?
My son wanted me to watch Monster Quest with him this evening. It was about Big Foot in Colorado. One of the featured scientists was Bill Given...is this PB????
It was an interesting program about recent activity by an unidentified predator in the Rocky Mountains. They believe that whatever large predator is killing elk is not a bear.
Another coincidence of the program....a tracking specialist, Jim Halfpenny was interviewed too. I met him years ago on week's vacation in Montana. We spent a week at the Nature Conservancy's Pine Butte Reserve learning about bears. Jim Halfpenny was one of the participants. I still have a bear footprint cast he made for me.
I don't watch much TV so it was odd to see 2 different acquaintances in the one show I actually watch!

Lillipets, indeed that was me. I was a bit nervous about doing the show but I have a 14 year old and many friends with kids in the right age group to enjoy such a show. Since I used to like a similar show "In Search Of.." back when I was a youth I thought it would be fun for the kids to see me and agreed to be the Wildlife Expert for the show. They were seeking a biologist with a knowledge of the Colorado wildlife and habitats to talk about native wildlife like bears & elk as well as someone with a background of searching for rare species and some government folks identified me for the gig. Cool that you knew Halfpenny as well, I was glad he was on there as he wrote the book Mammal Tracking in North America and is definitely a top expert on that subject.
For those who will never see the show mostly I looked at reported bigfoot sightings data and compared it to the patterns of both Colorado's known predators and to wide ranging elusive mammals that also have mythical status in Colorado -- the grizzly bear and the wolverine. Somehow I got the last word on the show too.
Momliz: fear not, the episode will re-air many times including late tomorrow night (late enough it needs to be recorded) but also a few dates late in March. Jackalope no, you can find evidence of them at any gas station in Wyoming but I did pitch to the producer that there a number of fascinating mythical 'monsters' on the African continent and that I'd be happy to guide them there.

Indeed it is MonsterQuest: Snowbeast Slaughter.
Tom: I hate to ruin the suspense (yes it is quite dramatized), there is of course no film capture of sasquatch but they do present a compelling case for some unexplicable evidence.
Gritty: that's the one with Leonard Nimoy -- In Search Of...bigfoot, abonimable snowman, Noah's Ark, etc. As a boy they appealed to my sense of discovery and exploration.
Just remember everyone the cameara adds 10 pounds, or maybe 15 since its in HD.

Here's the schedule for the show: http://www.history.com/shows.do?epis...&action=detail
It will be repeated next week and I'll try to catch it. Sounds like fun. I'll remember the camera adds 15 lbs. rule!
