Egypt | Cairo | Giza transportation
I'm looking over a map if the Giza plateau and it's a big area to cover on foot.
What, if any options are there for getting around up there?
I've heard that camel rides there are "expensive". I'm not sure what that means - the Egyptian pound is trading at 17:1 with USD

Though I almost never hire guides, I did in November in Cairo. It makes sense for the reason you mention, to get around the Giza site and, as far as I know, there is no other way around though you could just hire a taxi. In 1 day we were also able to cover the Dahshur & Saqqara sites for the earlier pyramids. The guide I used decided to use his own car, rather than a driver which many do. Having your own guide also means you won't be approached by others at the site and if you want a camel he or she will know a fair price. If it interests you I enthusiastically recommend mine, Ahmed Gamal, [email protected].

Thanks
Our agent has arranged for a guide for Giza and Saqqara. I'm wondering about options in case we decide to go back to th Great pyramid after he's done for the day. We'll be staying at the Le Meridien Pyramids which is close by, as I understand it.
