HI, Feels good to be back
Hi folks,(lynn, leely, predator biologist, hari, kavey, nyamera, sandi, patty, bat, dennis, and all other old and new fodorites),soory for the long break
I know it's ages since I have posted and visited africa, as I have been busy in some family health issues and loads of work.
I also forgot my password for my login, and just managed to get it back.
My couple of wildlife trips since the last post have been to Gir, where I have had amazing sightings,
The best was the day I spotted 10 fully grown asiatic lions in one day.
Well as usual I want to do an african safari for spotting loads of lions !!!! I am planning on taking a 2 week break, dates are flexible,(for superlative game viewing and accomodation)
Any Suggestions !!!!!
Sonali

Welcome back Sonali! Missed you and hope everything is o.k. with you and your family now. My recent lion experience was seeing 10 in Kruger (over 8 days) and 14 at Mala Mala (daily). Though I didn't care for MM, the lions were there, almost on command.
Again, welcome back!

Welcome back! I was wondering about you. Hope your family is fine. I am sorry about your grandfather. Maybe you can even visit that relative or family friend who lives near me. That would be fun.
Any Asiatic lion photos we can look forward to?

Welcome back, Sonali!
Sorry to hear about the family health issues but hoping everyone is feeling better now.
Your asiatic lion sighting sounds fabulous!
What time of year do you want to take your break? That might narrow down suggestions. Do you have an approx max budget you can share? Are there any particular types of environment or species of animals/ birds that you really want to see? It's a bit wide to help at the moment!

Sonali, I am sorry to hear about your grandfather. It is very kind of you to check in and let "us" know you're alright.
Try to read some recent reports from the New! East Africa Trip Report--it would give you ideas of ways to see lots of lions with fewer crowds. You'll also see that wild dogs made a prominent (relatively) appearance in Serengeti last year. Look for Nikao's trip.
Best wishes for happier times!

Hi,
Thanks for the exceedingly warm welcome !!!!!
I am bad at taking photo's, next time I will take a camera and will post, that is a promise !!!!
The next exotic trip I am planning is going on a cruise from russia on an icebreaker to the franz joseph land,
svalbard and the northeast coast of greenland. It leaves on 21st of july 2008...It is $$$$$$, wondering what I should do????
I sincerely think that visiting the polar regions in the next 10 years is very important as due to global warming, which is increasing at a rapid rate every year, the flora, fauna will change as ice shelfs, glaciers are going to melt and we will never be able to experience the polar regions after some years..... it is sad and alot of animals like the polar bears will struggle surviving,
