Is Morocco safe for American tourists?

My daughter is currently studying in England and wants to take a trip with friends to Morocco. Given all that is going on in the world today, is Morocco a safe place for an American tourist?

Is New York City safe for Americans? Is Oklahoma City safe for Americans?
Is Tel-Aviv safe for Americans?
I understand your dilemma but nobody will answer this question for you but you. There are no problem reported regarding American tourists in Morroco.
We are taking chance wherever we go but that's life.
I havent been to Morroco lately, but did travel there a year ago. I would think most places are safe for American tourists. Tangiers is a rather strange place, many people have called it the Tijuana of Africa, but it was nice enough. Tell her to dress conservativly in order to reduce the ammount of attention she will get from men, watch her money, and she should be fine. I am in Cairo right now, and even with the anti-american war protests going on, I have never felt in danger. Tell her to have a great time, its a beautiful country, and the people are great. Hope this was of some help
Jonathan.
[email protected]

I just posted a reply about this same thing, but I'll offer you my input. My family & I were in Morocco (Marrakesh, Essaouira & Fez) for 2 weeks during Christmas & New Year's. We always felt very safe (that includes 2 young children and my mother-in-law). Also, we were treated VERY well ANY time we told someone we were Americans. It was a wonderful place & all our experiences were good. We stayed in the medinas (old walled cities). I would be inclined to advise a trip to Marrakesh for a first time visitor. Also, make sure your daughter knows what to expect from Morocco to see if it is the kind of place she wants to visit. We ALL loved it, but it is not for everyone. I'd be glad to try to answer any questions, if I can.
