Johannesburg/Melville Guest House for Honeymoon?

Hi - my fiancee and I are going to be in Jo'burg for a few days in the middle of our honeymoon (first part in Cape Town, then Namibia, then Jo'burg, then Mozambique) and need a place for four nights.

We've stayed at the Thulani Lodge in Melville before, loved the place and area, and Thulanis is our default choice but if any of you have ideas of places we should check out (mid to upper range is OK - it's the honeymoon!) I'd love to hear about them.

Thanks!
-george

I would definitely recommend the Akuwaiseni guest house in Melville. It is a short distance from the main street with shops and eateries. And you wlll be treated royally by owner Dawie VanVuuren.
www.akuwaiseni.co.za

We stayed there last October and also as guests was a honeymoon couple from Wales.

i loved "space" it was right on the main street of melville (7th? i can't recall), so entirely no worry about walking to dinner (i did female alone) and it's a gorgeous modern mini-compound. the plus is, the lovely young woman who runs it will pick you up at the airport and drive you locally, too, if need be. i had a great experience there and wouldn't hesistate to recommend it. amazing breakfast, too.

if you are at all on the young side it is not stuffy at all- very appealing and hip.look at their web site.

also, i learned of it from this forum, if you search melville you may find the original posting that listed several options in the melville area..it is from 2006, i think.

If you really want to treat yourselves then 10 Bompass is delctable.

Another new one on the market is out on the west rand called Forum homini, their honeymoon suite is delectable and the best food I have eaten in a long time was in their restaurant called Roots, it was wonderful!

We stayed at the Jean Jean Guesthouse in Melville in Dec and it was very nice. She (Jean) actually owns 2 or 3 properties in that area.
