Been a guide for many years.. use Little governors, Rekero and Ilkeliani depending on the budget.. clients stayed at Ilkeliani in mid july and late september ..reviews great. repeat bookings for next year with one zoology group.the new manager maloi spot on..surprised to see one
review not so great.. may be having a bad day??..august been madness in the mara..!! btw the camp area at Ilkeliani is the largest in the Mara..tents well spaced out..

Toshi,i am a marketing director of a safari company . we use all the properties mentioned in your question. Serena and Simba are established lodges providing good value and service. However ,Ilkeliani appeals to people who want a true wildlife experience with safari "mod cons" thrown in. The $400 diff is rather suspect considering the rates charged by Ilkeliani are in the same range as the Serena. check this!!

I found Serena a bit cramped when full although the view is to die for.Am interested that no one mentions Keekorok lodge in the reviews. Now its been rebuilt after their fire, it is very pleasant, although its a lodge rather than a tented camp.I'd certainly full marks to Olonana for customer relations though - I called in there last winter, exploring and driving myself. Having overstretched myself, was a bit knackered and felt like a rest and a drink. Was made especially welcome by a lovely S.A lady -(wish I had asked her name now), when I asked for my bill, she said she wouldn't think of it and it was at the managements complimants -how cool's that? Sadly, when I stopped at Governor's one morning and asked if I could have some tea and toast, it was $25 which I thought was a bit mean spirited - suppose I should have asked first but don't ever expect anything for nothing, so just coughed up and will give it a miss another time - This has helped me in my thinking though; I know who deserves my custom when I go this winter.

What are mod cons? Modern conveniences?
Thanks for all the info you've put here.
