Nairobi Hotel for one night
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a hotel for one night(close to the airport) in Nairobi....we get into Nairobi around 8pm and will be flying out the following morning around 9:30am. My tour company has booked the Norfolk Hotel....but I have seen some really bad reviews on other websites for this hotel....Has anyone stayed there recently?
Thanks,
Brenda

We overnighted at the Norfolk at the start of our safari last February. I have nothing but nice things to say about the hotel, but I don't think it was worth the effort to get there or the extra expense since we had such a quick turnaround. We got in at 10:00 pm and left at around 7:00 the next morning.

If you're leaving for your Kenya safari next morning, drive or fly, you can stay downtown/center of NBO. At reasonable prices for "sleeping" and breakfast:
Intercontinental
Hilton
The Stanley
Fairview
If you're departing by air from Wilson airport consider the suburb of Karen at a reasonably priced hotel:
Macushla House - charming 6/rm with pool and gardens
If heading to Tanzania by air or road, consider hotel closer to arrival airport:
The Panari
Intercontinental
Hilton
The Stanley
Fairview

You can go to the The Country Lodge which is actually next to the Fairview which will cost you $130.00 approx.
Of not there is the Panari which is 20 minutes from the airport.
There are various opinions about the Norfolk. It is probably because it is changing hands and the Fairmount has bought it out..

Another vote for the Fairview. Comfortable, pleasant and pretty reasonable, with a nice pool. We were sorry we weren't there long enough to use it. Thought it was a better deal than the Serena, where we stayed for our first overnight.
