Off the beaten path in Jordan
We're planning a 2 week trip to Jordan and plan to see the great sites of Petra, Wadi Rum (to include camping) and the Dead Sea. If we're looking for a area that has few tourtists (maybe local markets) that we can find local color Where Would that Be? We will self drive and are very comfortable off road.
Also, any recommendations on good reading to prepare? I did a search and could not come up with anything!
ManY THANKS!

Hi - just recently returned from 5 days in Jordan - wish I had planned for 2 weeks like you - we loved it!
Re reading - he Late King Hussein's wife Queen Noor' autobiography is a terrific book to read before you go.
Re off the beaten track - we didn't get too far off in the time we were there but I would recommend seeing Little Petra (we were the only one there) and the various crusader castles (Kerah, Ajloun, Shubek, etc - but then we really like castles).
Here's a link to our blog with lots of pics

Have a great time!
