For those taking the title of your post literally, I ran across this while researching Namibia.

Hari,
There is a Lucky Brand store right across from my dance studio. I am sure I will give Diesel's a try soon.
Jenack,
Here are a couple of my recent articles:

That's great writing, and the photographer did a great job too. Is there a website you write for at all? I read www.secondsout.com, www.maxboxing.com and www.doghouseboxing.com

There is nothing magical about cargo style pants. Basically, you want pants that are light and dry easily, and are preferably in a neutral color (and preferably not blue). You definitely do not need to spend $50.
Convertible pants are great, since they can zip off to shorts.
I think you would want at least 1 pair full length pants, both for bug and temperature purposes, but if you like capris and already have them, they might work for some of your safari days.
I also bought some cheap stuff online at Campmore.com.

Besides Academy and Sports Authority, you might check for a Gander Mountain or Bass Pro Shop. Convertable pants(zip off's) are the way to go. I got several pair of zip off pants at Gander that were cotton and I think $ 29. More of a house type brand. I also took a pair of North Face zip off's. Those were great on the plane. Cool & comfortable + they were made of a more durable fast drying material vs REI, Ex-Officio, etc. Wear them on all my vacation trips now. Worth the money around $ 50 ish. Not sure about temps' in Tanzania during June, but my trip to SA in May it was cold in morning/late afternoon/evening, but shorts weather in middle of day

Love the title to your post! I wore stretch jeans on the plane going over, and have to say that I loved having them to wear a couple times in the evening at camp. It was nice getting out of the khakis. I was surprised at how much I liked my nylon zip off pants. Wore them most of the time while in the bush.
Good luck, and don't bother buying too much that you won't wear again!
