Should I cancel my trip to Marrakech 10/28
Have a trip planned to Marrakech and Sahara Desert 10/28 now with earthquake contemplating if I should cancel my trip. Airbnb host made it seem like I should not cancel and that they need tourism but also don’t want to be insensitive and not be able to experience the city fully

It appears that much of Marrakech is going about their daily life with limited impact from the earthquake and that tourism is very much needed. I’ve been reading a thread on Trip Advisor which has a several ex-pats and frequent travelers to Morocco who are aware of the current status. (Please note that I’ve attempted to post the thread but the site will not allow it).
But, as of now, it seems several of the important historical monuments are closed “till further notice” so, if these sights are important for you to visit, I’d check to see whether and when they’ll reopen before going:

Much of Morocco is not impacted by the earthquake and, if concerned, visiting elsewhere in the country might be a good alternative.

We visited Colca Canyon in Peru a couple of days after a major earthquake. We though very hard about whether we should go ahead (if it were possible) or cancel. The key factor wasn't about no being able to see stuff but whether us being there would impact adversely on the local people. We did go and some things we couldn't do, but it was no big deal. It was heartbreaking to see the devastation, the people living in tents and getting their food from relief agency truck but that is part of life. The people were genuinely pleased to see us. Tourism essential to the local economy there as I suspect it is in Marrakech as evidenced by the reaction from your host. As with many locations, there will be a huge amount to see do and experience away from the main tourist sites.
