Wedding with the Elephants

We are off at the end of the month to get Married with the Elephants.

First of all I would like to thank the people on this forum for all the help and advise. I have had so much fun researching and planning our trip. You can get so much info on this forum and everyone is so helpful.

I specificly like to thank Tanya from Africadirect who helped plan a fantastic itinerary. Her advise, knowledge and hours answering all our questions was unbelievable. We have gotten to know her over the months and have appreciated her attention to detailand so much that we have invited her and her husband to be witnesses at our wedding with him being our photographer.

At the beginning of March we went to the Serengeti for our engagement and my fiance fell in love with Elephants. So we decided to get Married with Elephants in our party.

I lived in South Africa for 10 years, but my fiance has never been to Africa other than above. We decided that we wanted to spend the 2 weeks on Safari and not travel around to much....we will return again to see other sites.

Day 1-Fly to Johannesburg direct from the US using SAA. Stay overnight Intercontinental at the airport

Day 2,3,4- Fly to Camp Jabulani at Kampala reserve near Kruger. Spend the first to days getting to know the Elephants, the camp, safari with the Elephants, relaxing, enjoy the spa and generally unwind.. Getting Married with the Elephants on the 3rd day...can't wait.

Day 5,6,7,8-Travel to Ngala Tented Camp for our honeymoon. Safari everyday and spend one night at Ngala walking safari. Love the idea of sleeping in tents, under the stars surrounded by the animals and the sounds at night...but still enjoy the luxury and confort.

Day 9,10- Elephant plains Luxury suite....more wonderful safaris, seeing a variety of animals...both of us are photographers...she does film, I do videos...

Day 11,12,13- Exeter Leadwood to finsh off the trip in a quieter more romantic lodge, sitting by our plunge pool and more safaris to enjoy the wildlife.

Day 14 Michelangelo Hotel to catch up with old friends for dinner that I haven't seen in 7 and a half years and introduce my new better half.

Day 15....back to reality and a mountain of memories.

Look forward to planning our next trip....wonder where to go for our first anniversary...

Take Care

Barry

Camp Jabulani is a first class resort. My wife and I loved it...it was a splurge for us price wise but we loved it.

Have fun and congrats on the wedding

CONGRATS to that wonderful and unique wedding-safari!

keep well and enjoy every minute of your safari and all that comes with it!
i could bet you run into other newly-weds occasionally as safari is extremly popular for that special occasion! then you can exchange first hand experiences ;-)

Just got back....it was incredible. All the people at the lodge helped put together an incredible wedding. They far exceeded all expectations. I will write a report later. Meanwhile, I wrote a report on the lodge with pictures of the wedding at "tripadvisor", just search Camp Jabulani...will do a detail report later.

Great wedding and honeymoon....unbelievable Safari...

Congratulations now that you are actually married. With Africa in your blood, you'll always have an interesting anniversary destination if you so choose.

That's it, after 32 years of marital bliss, Jim and I are getting divorced tomorrow so that we can get married with the elephants next year - that's SO cool!!!

Thanks for resurfacing this post Dennis, I missed this one too the first time around!
