Yellow Fever exemption specifics for Kenya - Uganda - Kenya?
I have current guides, have read the IAMAT pages, and have scoured the forums for updates but still wish for opinions about our specific itinerary - thanks in advance.
We will fly from the US (stopovers in Europe) to Kenya for 2 weeks next month, then to Uganda for a week, then back to Nairobi for ~6 hours before flying home. We are both over 60 and I have an additional medical condition that contraindicates the yellow fever vaccine.
Will we be required to show proof of exemption in Uganda and/or upon re-entering Kenya 6 hours ahead of our flight home? Specifically, is an official yellow card exemption required (see below) or is a statement of exemption on our doctor's letterhead sufficient?

Your doctor should know the correct paperwork to fill out if he knows how the yellow booklet works (hopefully you’re going to a travel medicine specialist?). I’d be hesitant to bring anything on doctor’s letterhead because who knows what the Ugandan officials will think of it. I had my YF cert checked entering Rwanda and then when I flew to Kenya after that (It’s not required for Kenya unless you’re coming from some place with a risk of YF transmission). I’d make sure you get this tied up properly because I don’t think you’d want to get the vaccination on the spot there.

I actively need the exemption for medical reasons but live in a rural part of Oregon with limited availability to travel docs plus those hours away are booked out past our departure date 6 weeks from now. I have some more local leads - won't stop till I get what I need somewhere. ![Imported](https://www.fodors.com/community/images/smilies/imported/smiley.gif)
Thanks for the input!

I am going again next month too, same itinerary as you. When I went two years ago I showed the exception card and to be honest they just looked to see that it was the yellow card, didnt really read it . I will use the same this time as well. I just put it with my regular yellow vaccine card as handed them both.
yikes. I just posted mine below and didnt realize it had an expired on it. I had better get another one too. Glad you posted this!
