Sharon,
I don't think your stay there is a waste. Main activity in those camps are walking trails (I hope you were aware of that), and usually one doesn't expect near encounters with big game during a walking trail.
Avoiding 'muddy' situations? Some rules are valid worldwide: only drink water from sealed bottles, and be careful with food that has been prepared with cold water such as salads.
I'm always drinking light beer to avoid water at all. However, my 'muddy situation' must have been caused by something different: all clients have eaten and drunk the same. Maybe a unclean beer bottle...

Unfortunately, my 'best' wildlife sighting happened two days ago during the road transfer to Mfuwe Airport, when all my camera equipment was already packed: two leopards mating!
I remember that three years ago I had a similar great sighting on my way to Mfuwe: a leopard mock charge to our vehicle. (Maybe I should consider to pack my equipment at Mfuwe Airport.)

Hey Mitch - Yes, I knew it was mostly walking at the bush camps. But I was assuming, given how popular the camps seem to be, that we would see SOME animals! I've got three nights at Tafika - mostly walking as well. Maybe I should re-arrange some of these nights?
And BTW: How did your vehicle catch fire?

if at all possible, can you postpone changing your itinerary until I return? i'd hate to miss the excitement and who knows the next thread could be a record breaker! i checked weatherunderground.com and mfuwe, lusaka and livingstone are all sunny and clear for the next 5 days, though it could be like the Hawaii forecast. always sunny and warm but raining like hell! (easiest job in the world, Hawaii weather forcaster!!)

Well, Den, my hands are somewhat tied, since I've already got my international flights. So, I doubt you're going to miss out on too much drama.
Glad you're looking at suny days.....don't forget the sunblock!

, well you know what they say, it's all luck on safari and it sounds like bwanamitch had nothing but bad luck on his safari, not to mention a shi**y time , and you did do your homework so you know the camps and you are going at a different time of the year so I wouldn't worry about your choices. as long as i see 1 of everything, i'll be happy!

Not only immodium but ciprofloxacin!
We never go on a trip to anywhere remote without a decent medical kit - most of which we don't use on any given trip but different bits of which we've used on various trips.
If severe diarrhoea doesn't respond to immodium within 2 or 3 doses it's time for the ciprofloxacin.

Of course I had Immodium in my health kit. But these drugs are meant to be taken after the first symptons - pretty useless for my sudden awake. I took Immodium immediately after the first awake and could stop my 'muddy situation' after four hours.

Travel tip for you BwanaMitch. Get Diasorb in the pill form. 4 of those plugs you up for about 8 hours. Not a drug, I think just an expansive fiber. Time enough for a good nite sleep or to make transfers where there is no hope of finding the porcelin throne in time. Ist time used, the quality food at Lake Manyara gave me a bad case of food poisoning. Had to make a road transfer the next day to the Serengeti. Hakuna Matata. Through the years have saved me from a few potential embarrassing situations/complications.
