American Airlines Miles SAAver ticket question

American Airlines Miles SAAver ticket question
Wanting to book a ticket San Diego to Boston in July on American Airlines using miles -
The good news is that a seat is available for business class clicking Miles SAAver 25,000 miles - if I do this can I be bumped from the flight if someone later wants to book business and is willing to pay full price?
Am I reading this wrong or is there a chance you can get switched to another flight or coach with a Miles SAAver ticket on American Airlines.
I see there is AAnytime miles but that takes 100,000

No you will not get bumped for that reason. Once you buy the seat it is yours.
The only time you could lose the seat would be if the flight were cancelled and you get rebooked on another flight. In which case you would still be in business if available or you can elect to wait for a flight with business. Else it is your decision to take a coach seat and get a refund of the difference in miles paid.

You do realize it's 25,000 miles each way, so 50,000 for the round-trip? I ask because it appears from what you've written that you're comparing apples to oranges: <i>'a seat is available for business class clicking Miles SAAver 25,000 miles'</i> and <i>'I see there is AAnytime miles but that takes 100,000 '</i>.
Very little chance you might get switched to another flight or coach or get bumped once you have the ticket. This might happen if the flight is canceled and MilesSAAver tix aren't available on your replacement flight, or if Business is overbooked and you are late checking in, otherwise unlikely.

Yes I do understand it takes 50,000 for the round trip. It seemed much better to me than the 25K Economy AAnytime offered.
I am trying to understand my best assurance of staying in Business using miles and to me that seemed like I'd have to use 100,000 for that.
Admit I find this all very confusing.

I don't think you'll have any problem staying in Business using miles, and I don't think using 100,000 miles will give you any more assurance than 50,000. <i>'Once you buy the ticket ...'</i>, as NoFlyZone says above. I use MilesSAAver awards frequently to fly Business and have never had a problem.
That said, there is always the possibility that the flight may be canceled, which could change things. However, if this happens, as NFZ also says, <i>'you can elect to wait for a flight with business'</i> availability.
