August: Phil-Munich...Book now?...Onetravel.com?
I'm planning a family trip to Austria Aug 16 - Sept 2. Looking at Philadelphia - Munich airfares. I've been watching itasoftware.com, sidestep.com, expedia.com, etc. Unfortunately, I missed what was apparently a 1-day sale at British Air in March where I could have booked our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) for $2600.
So...airfares seem to be going up. What is the chance I'll see something like $2600 again?? Right now the cheapest I can find is $3200 (for all 4) on Onetravel.com(AirFrance tickets). Should I book now?
Any comments on Onetravel.com?
Many thanks,
DJ

I assume the adult fares are about $900, and the children about $700? I think that's a reasonable price for August travel, and I highly doubt you'll see anything significantly cheaper. I'll book now.

Yes August is the most expensive month for travel to Europe. The price you are getting now is reasonable since prices just keep getting hire during the summer months. Did you try flying out of the New York city area. Sometimes you may find a good deal from NYC.

I don't even see those fares on onetravel.com anymore for those dates. Right now the lowest fares are on BA, similar fares that's shown on itasoftware.com - mid-$900's for adults, about $800 for children <12.
That look like a legitimate site, but if you can often find the same fare on the airline's own website and save $5-10 per ticket of service fees.

I just checked www.kayak.com for you for those dates, and found tickets on Iberia Air going for $662 r/t out of JFK. Obviously it will be less convenient for you to fly out of New York, but the question is whether the $600 (total) difference is more important. Good luck!

Thanks for all the feedback. Turns out by the time I discussed the $3200 tickets with my husband, they were gone! Lesson learned!
As for flying out of JFK, I think that's out for us, although I realize there are more good deals from there.
So, I'll keep checking the internet regularly and next time be ready to jump pretty quickly!

I tried to book a few flights on onetravel.com. It's a big bait and switch.
Every fare I came up with was not available. Their web site is set up in such a user-unfriendly manner, too. Find a fare you like, click on it to book. Enter the names of the travelers, credit card info, etc. and only AFTER you do all that, it tells you the fare isn't available. You have to enter all the info again to try another flight/fare.
I called their 800 number to try to book and the guy said he was looking at the same screens I was, yet his fares didn't match mine, even if we clicked at the same time.
I deleted onetravel's bookmark from my browser.
