Which seats on AF 1st class?
Hi.
My husband and I were lucky enough to score 1st class award tickets from LAX to CDG on Air France and we are trying to figure out where to sit. We currently have 1A and 1B, but I'm not sure if that makes sense for a couple. Should we pick 1A and 2A instead? I've looked at Seatguru.com but am still not sure what to do never having seen the 1st class compartment on AF.
Thanks!

Since you ask that way, it seems like you're on either AF65 or AF69 on a 777-200, and not AF71 on a 747-400.
One usually good source to answer question like this is the photos on airliners.net. However, they don't have any photos of the new 1st Class on the 772, and only one on the 773, which should be similar.
It seems like with 1A and 1B, you can at least speak to each other across the aisle. With a 64" pitch, you'll need to shout from 2A to get the one in 1A to hear you.
Unfortunately, without good photos, I can't say if 1B/K or 2B/K will work better or not.
You may want to ask this on flyertalk.com's "Flying Blue - AF/KL" forum.
But at least look at this pic on the 773: www.airliners.net/open.file/612254/L/

When are you flying? As far as I know, no 772's have been retrofitted yet. AF is far, far behind on the process. The rollout of the new seats has really been a disaster (I wouldn't expect any 772's with new seats until well into 2006). I'm flying CDG-LAX in business in December and it will still be the old cabin layout/seats for me.
If it's the old cabin layout in first class (call AF and ask them which it will be), then 1A/B are right next to each other. See - http://www.seatexpert.com/_AF_777_200.html
Here's a thread on flyertalk where you can follow the retrofit progress (or lack of progress in this case ) -
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...ferrerid=18562
It's a long thread so look on the more recent posts. You could also post your question there but be sure to include date and flight number.
In any case, congrats on scoring 2 first class award seats, not an easy feat particularly on the LAX-CDG route!

FYI,
The following is true if you want to use Delta miles:
Effective January 1, 2006, First Class award redemptions will no longer be offered on Air France and Korean Air. Also on that date, First Class award inventory will no longer be displayed. Any previously issued ticket will be honored, however, changes to another KE/AF flight will not be offered in First Class on/after the effective date of January 1, 2006. Customers who redeemed a First Class award who make changes and are no longer traveling in First Class on all or part of their journey are eligible to receive the applicable mileage credit difference.
If no longer able to travel, the redeposit fee will be waived for AF/KE First Class award tickets returned for redeposit.
Customers who wish to redeem First Class Award tickets on AF/KE and will complete travel before January 1, 2006 may do so, however should be advised that if their plans change, First Class on AF/KE will not be available in 2006.

looks like 1a and 1b, is an window and aisle. first class is 2x2x2 config. so, if you both want aisle, choose e and f. l and k is aisle and window as well. unless ou want to sit otherwise...(separate...which, believe me. happens!)
