Golden Buddha, Jim Thompson’s house, Royal Bardges National Museum, Erawan Shrine, Flower Market, Klong Tour, Wat Pho, Grand Palace (Emerald Buddha), Pan Arthirt road, Golden Mount, Suan LumLumpini Park (Bazar), puppet show, dance theater

Let me also add that we arrive Jan 1st at noon and we plan to take it easy that first half day, so we were thinking of going to the Oriental and haveing spa treatments to help recup. from the trip.

You can do the barges, flower market, and wat arun as ppart of a klong tour which will take about half a day --3 hours or so. The other half ot the day you could go to Erawan Shrine and Jim Thompson House and if you have time the National Museum.

Emerald Buddha and Wat Po should be done the same morning.

If you want to go to the Oriental for spa treatments on Jan. 1st you should book far in advance because. That is a very busy day and the hotel has a lot of regulars who spend the day there and reserve their spa treatments when they reserve their rooms.

Gloria,
I tried to book with Oriental and they said they couldn't reserve until Dec 25th?? Disappointing.

Is it too much to do the floating market early one am and then come back and do Wat Po and Grand Palace in one day?

Here's a couple of restaurant recommendations in Bangkok for you. Check out Suan Luam Night Bazaar!

Coripep-- then I would call on the 25th to reserve. You should go to the temple of the emerald buddha as soon as it opens which I think is 8:30. If you want to do it and wat po the same time you do the klong tour, do the temples first and do the klong tour after lunch -- say 3PM. Just skip the flower market which is much better late at night anyway. You could go to it after the night market or after dinner one night.

not a good idea to do those two things on the same day...both are morning activities, although the palace can be done in the afternoon, but it will be very hot..
