Best airfare to Vietnam for big group?
Anyone knows of a cheap way to buy airfare from California to Vietnam? A group of people I know (possibly up to 6 or more) is thinking of traveling to Vietnam late Feb to March '07.
How to go about this? Go with an agent or a certain website? Any creative/cheap ways? Like flying into Thailand and buy a separate ticket to Vietnam?
Please recommend and appreciate if you could be specific. Thanks!

first of all call united and see what their group rates are---minimum number....they have the only direct flight from usa to VN and it originates in LA i believe...
also contact a travel agent...there must be travel agents in VN population areas in CA...check around...
call a consolidator...look for small ads in your sunday paper...

UA's flight to SGN is an extension of their SFO-HKG flight.
But you can fly other airlines with other Asian connection.
I think you should find a Vietnamese-run travel agent near you in California to book your tickets. That's probably going to give you the best rate. Also check out online agents with consolidator fares like www.gatewaylax.com
You need 10 people in your group to get group rate. 6 won't do it.

I agree with Bisbee> EVA is consistantly the best price and best service (IMHO). They do not fly to Ha Noi any longer. They orignally booked me to Ha Noi then discontinued the segment so they re-routed me on China Airlines from TPE -Ha Noi. They are always accomodating and the office in Ha Noi is very convenient.
