best beach/town to stay on south coast
mid planning Christmas 2018 trip - we want somewhere to base ourselves on the south coast to be able to do trips to Galle and Mirissa and Unawunatuna
Just wondered if anyone had any specific recommendations for a house with cooking staff (doesn't have to be luxury though, the more Sri Lankan the better_ that could accommodate 4 adults and 2 children. It will be our first stop for 4-5nights so the children being able to run onto the beach while we get over jetlag would be ace!

Mirissa has a lovely beach but the surf there may be too much for younger children.
Weligama has a nice beach with less surf, but I wouldn’t go into the water there as the main sewer discharged right onto the beach (although that may have changed).
Goyambokka also had a very nice beach (go at dawn to see the cows wandering along the beach!)
Don’t have any recs for houses to rent but there seemed to be plenty around.
PS I LOVE Marmite!
