Driver in Bankok
Hi everyone! A poster not long ago recommended a driver going by the nickname of "Rat" - she seemed an ideal choice and hey, came recommended. But I haven't been able to get in touch with her! Has anyone else got ahold of "rat"? Or does anyone have any other drivers they liked in Bangkok? I just don't want to go through the stress of not knowing if I'm being ripped off or not. Thanks for any help!

Yes, I have booked Ratt (real name Vimonrat Kantapiyo) to do some airport transfers and a couple of other trips next week when we are in Bangkok! Her contact details are [email protected] or [email protected]. Initially, she gave the yahoo address as her contact but then she sent me an email saying she was having problems with that account, so gave me the hotmail address. If you are unable to get hold of her, let me know and I will pass her your details on Monday!

Hi I just got an answer from her - she had been traveling with her family to a part of Thailand where she couldn't access her e-mails - I'm glad there are still places like it.

Anyway, we arranged everything - it's just a short weekend trip to occupy my Good Friday holiday. My big Thailand trip will come at the end of May...

And I'll definitely tell her about the spirit house ladies - will want to check those out too if I have the chance. I think I'm more of a Nang Talung kind of person though - that's what I'll be looking for.

Thanks again everyone...

It did sound pretentious, didn't it? Sorry, not my intention - they're those shadow puppets... When I went to Turkey, I searched high & low for the Karagoz, which is their version. They're so cool, beautifully made, deceptively simple... I'm dying to see a workshop & get one or two for myself.

For airport trips, she charged 400 baht including tolls and for other trips it was 220 baht per hour plus petrol if required. She drives a yellow and green taxi which means she is the owner driver, her husband also drives one and he picked us up from the airport on one occasion as she was at the weekend market. She phoned us from her mobile though when were in the taxi, to apologise for not picking us up in person.
Hope that helps!
