Hanoi or Sapa?

My husband and I are taking a 10 day tour through Vietnam with Gap Adventures. We end in Hanoi, spending 1 1/2 days in Hanoi. We then have two extra days on our own before flying out of Hanoi. Should we- spend two more days in Hanoi or go to Sapa for two days (taking an overnight train to Sapa)? I have read wonderful things about both places. I am wondering if the 1 1/2 days in Hanoi would not be enough. But I would love to see Sapa, but wonder if 2 days there are not enough. Any thoughts/advice would be helpful. Oh, we are going in early January. I know that Sapa will be chilly then. Thanks!!!

1 1/2 days in Hanoi would not be enough for me. We spent a week there and our time was well-spent.

Although Sapa is lovely, 1 1/2 days isn't much time in Hanoi. I also suggest spending the extra time in Hanoi, perhaps with a day trip to Halong Bay.

hi
1day enough for hanoi, you can take an around city trip, if you like adventure, spend more time to explore Sapa.
Have a good trip.

I spent a few days in Hanoi but it was mostly just killing time between Halong Bay and Sapa trips.

I spent 3N4D in Sapa which included an overnight trek to the valley below. There are day treks you can take so a couple of nights in Sapa would probably be enough.
