Hong Kong in February with an infant
Our family and some friends are going to Hong Kong in feb. I have an almost 6 month old baby by then. I am torn if I should bring him with us or just leave him with my parents at home. I want to bring him but how cold is it in feb? Is it safe to travel around HK with an infant? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

In the city, temperature can drop to below 50F when there is a cold front, along with wind. But almost never 40F. Don't know where you are from, but 50F feels colder in HK than in northern part of the US. There is no heat in most places.
Not sure what kind of safety issues you're thinking about.

Thanks so much. I'm from the Philippines. Our weather here in Manila never reaches the teens. The coldest maybe is in the lower 20C. We often go to HK but this our first time to go right after Chinese new year. Are there sales in shops? Are stores open already on the 13th of Feb? Will there be a lot of PRC tourists?
We are planning to bring the baby and just let him stay with the nanny in the hotel room for most of our stay and maybe just bring him for a stroll by the Victoria harbour in the morings or will it be too cold for him?

Many HK parents take their babies out in Feb in HK, and Canadian parents take their babies out in Feb in Canada. You have to decide if 10C is too cold for your baby.
Regular retail stores will be all be open by Feb 13, except for those garment outlets in Sham Shui Po. Of course, there will be PRC tourists all over HK, but it's not as bad as some other times of the year.

I never buy anything there, but quite a few people on this board have found things there. Some are factory extras for name brands with cut labels. You can search for more info on this board or elsewhere. I can only tell you that those are closed for many days during Chinese New Year.
